I made other babies, but they didn\u2019t grow like you.<br \/><br \/>Mari: But you\u2019re the one who ate food and drank milk so that I could grow, so thank you.<br \/>Come to my wedding, okay?<br \/><br \/>Me: Of course! I want to. I should stay healthy, so I don\u2019t grow old too fast.<br \/><br \/>Mari: When you grow old, I\u2019ll buy you what you want.<br \/><br \/>Me: You don\u2019t need to.<br \/><br \/>Mari: I still will. I\u2019ll do a challenge for myself. I\u2019ll work as a model and\u2026 hmmm\u2026 that one that gets the money when we go shopping.<br \/><br \/>Me: Cashier?<br \/><br \/>Mari: Yeah. Because it\u2019s so easy to do. You just stand there and wait, and people will come and give you money.<br \/><br \/>(She\u2019s been saying that she wants an easy job. First, she wanted to be a singer. But when I told her she had to practice singing every day, she said she wouldn\u2019t do it and would rather be an okaasan (mom). I told her that okaasan is the hardest job\u2014you do everything, and worst of all, you don\u2019t get paid. So she changed to wanting to become a tita (aunt). These days, she\u2019s been into choosing her outfits and hair accessories, so we figured she could do modeling\u2014to which she happily agreed.)<br \/><br \/>Mari: When I have a lot of money, I will buy you a car.<br \/><br \/>Me: Thank you. Kabuotan ba sa ako anak ui.<br \/><br \/>Mari: I will also buy you a wheelchair.<br \/><br \/>Me: I might not need it because I\u2019ll stay strong.<br \/><br \/>Mari: I\u2019ll still buy one just to make sure.<br \/><br \/>I\u2019m so, so, so lucky to be her mom. Just her thoughts are more than enough. One day, it might change. It might not happen. But I\u2019m living the present that was once just my dream.<br \/><br \/>I also want to mention that I used to get a love letter from her every single day\u2014the first thing she did after getting settled in her classroom. It was always the same message: \u201cMama, I love you,\u201d with a cute drawing of me and her smiling.<br \/><br \/>Although these days, I don\u2019t get them anymore. She said their class ran out of origami paper, so she can\u2019t make them anymore.<br \/><br \/>Just these little sweet things that this little girl does make me feel like I\u2019m living in a dream.<br \/><br \/>Motherhood is not easy.<br \/>Your career will take a back seat.<br \/><br \/>I think I can never go back to a full-time job because now my daughter is my full-time job.<br \/><br \/>But this is something I consider a luxury\u2014to be able to spend time, very precious time, with my daughter.<br \/><br \/>All thanks to my hardworking and very cool husband.<br \/>Life is good.<br \/><br \/>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Me: Mari, thank you for being my daughter.
